Invisible Lecturer in Qur’an Learning

Al Qur’an is the holy book for Muslim contained of guidance for best lifestyle either for real world or heaven life. Thus, all of the Muslims have to understand and do all of commands in Al Qur’an. Then, to understand the means of Qur’an verse, the Muslim have to capable read correctly. For Indonesian, it is not easy because Al Qur’an is written with Arabic letter. Moreover there are many rules which is needed to be considered clearly by reader. If the reader doesn’t recite Qur’an verse properly then the meaning of Qur’an word and sentence recited will not same with the original.

In our life the learning process of recite Quran is still use the conventional method. The student has to meet directly with the lecturer. This lecturer is needed to be the evaluator of Quran  verse recited by student.

All of those ways of Qur’an verse learning ways, the many modern people now doesn’t want do that because they like the short way especially for the busy peoples who their daily life is full for working.

Some of months ago I have presented my research  at international conference in Yogyakarta.  which solve that problem. Actually, my purpose conduct this research is to provide the other way for Quran recitation learning using the newest technology so all of the people either common or busy people can use it easily. The title of my paper is “Prototyping of Qur’anic Verse Recitation Learning Software using Speech Recognition Techniques Based on Cepstral Feature”

In that paper I proposed the prototype step of Qur’an learning software equiped with novel method for evaluation of recitation correctness. This system using statistical machine learning  and cepstral features as basis of speech recognition technology used. So when we learn Qur’an recitatsion using this software, we fell that we are teached by virtual lecturer who is invisible. Now we are working to upgrade the system for improving the performance especially in recognition. Currently, we develop the speech enhancement for this application so the reliability of this system environment can be developed. Then, the improvement of recognition rate in tajwid law is researched by my colleagues for his master thesis.

This research is done for my contribution for our religion, Islam. In our (my team and other peoples who help this research) mind, if this application has big performance so it can be used by all of Muslim than we plan to distributed freely. Insya Allah.
