Word ‘Dunia’ in Arabic and Our Life

"Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar."

"Our Lord! grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire." 

As Moslem, I believe you knows about this pray sentence. I will not tell about all words in that sentence, I will explain the word ”dunia” in that sentence and in the verses of Quran. The word “dunia” in Indonesian language, that word is similar with “dunia” too, and in English, that  is similar with “world” or “realism”.

Actually I just beginning to learn Arabic Language, but I think this explanation will give us something new which I believe many Moslem don’t concern about this. Please see my draft below,

The word “dunia” is formed from basic (lexical)  word “dana” which mean near or short time. This word “dana” then formed by wajan “af’ala” wich mean comparative so the mean of “dunia” is nearer or shorter time. But the word dunia is beginning with “alif-lam” so that the mean of dunia is superlative. Because of that, the dunia (with alif-lam) is meant nearest or shortest time.

As I know (quote from my Ustadz), the whole of word “dunia” in the verse of Quran is beginning with “alif-lam”. So we can deepen our mind with the question WHY? Actually I do not know exactly, but as moslem which is encouraged to learn deeply about Al Quran menaing, finally we can get that message.

Why “dunia” (in Arabic), “dunia” (in Indonesia), “world”/”realism” is meant “nearest” or “shorthest time”? That’s because our life in this world is very short too. This life is just like a dream. When we wake from our dream, we face the real life, the very long life called akhirat. Our “recent life” length is not comparable with our “next life” length.

That’s the message which we can get from the learn word “dunia” in the Arabic. So if we read the pray sentence in the first paragraph, that can be translated to:

"Our Lord! grant us good in this shortest life  and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire." 

Miss World 2013 held in Indonesia? A Bad or Good News?

Indonesia became host of Miss World 2013. This is a bad news or good news? The pro-side included Hary Tano’s side (MNC as single official broadcaster of this event) said that this will help this country to develop the name of Indonesia on the world views. Others, they said this will improve the tourism and creative economy of this country especially Bali. There are many party who accept that Miss World 2013 will be placed in Indonesia. Of course they have some argumentation and opinion for their choice. We have to respect to their word. Those are their right to give opinion.

However, we also understand the true identity of our country, Indonesia. Indonesia is the biggest Moslem country in the world. Although the country does not use the Islam Law (Syariah Law) for daily life but we have to respect the Islamic culture. In Islam rule, the woman body exploitation is absolutely prohibited. The woman and other people who is watching will be punished in the God Law. In Islam it is called ‘haram’ thing. Although some sessions in the Miss World 2013 is aborted but I believe that there are some other session which will be similar. So canceling the Miss World 2013 is the best solution.

A famous ustadz said that although this event is covered with “good” thing such aborting bikini session etc, haram is still haram. That will not be changed. This condition similar with condition when a pig is covered by good thing, the pig is absolutely still haram. No Change!. I can called this as “Absolute Haram”.

I agree with the demonstration for rejection this event. I understand how they feel. I also not agree with this event. I also hate the Indonesia government for supporting this event. Lets think easily, if this event is canceled, there are no more demonstration. The people will not be in argumentation-war about this event. More than that, I think there are many way to improve the Indonesia economy and tourism without this Miss World 2013.

I believe, without Miss World 2013, this will be in peace and economy condition still can be improved with many ways. If I can tell directly to the to government faces, I will tell:

If you want this country in the peace, please aborted this Miss World 2013.If you capable to think more creative about the ways for improving our tourism and economy , please aborted this Miss World 2013.If you know how about our majority culture (Islamic majority population), please aborted this Miss World 2013.

But...

If you still want this country be in argumentation-war, demonstration, you can let this haram event heldIf you are not capable to think, you can let this haram event held.If you don’t know about, our people, you can let this haram event held.

Let’s Dance “Goyang Caesar” !!!

You know about “Goyang Caesar”? I think so. This dance style is very famous now in our country, Indonesia. All of people knows this dance especially when this dance was performed frequently in the show of television channel in Ramadhan, about a month ago.

By powerful all body-movements, this dance can pump up the spirit of dancer and viewer. In this dance, you must move your hand, head, foot, and hip, simply all your body, not except. Furthermore, you must keep smile when do this dance. This is the style of Goyang Caesar. Although I am not an expert in health major, I think this is good for our health and emotion.

This dance is blended with the interesting up-beat dangdut style music. The song is titled with “Buka Dikit, Jos” which means “Open a little, yeah!!!”. Actually, the lyrics of this song is not good for the education especially if it is sung by kids. However, ignoring the lyrics, the arrangement of music is full of spirit. The fusion of powerful body movement and full-spirit music interest many people so much.

The beat of dance which is match with the music also support why this dance become popular fast. Instead of that, the movement which is so simple and funny make people love to dance Goyang Caesar.
So what are you wait for? Lets Dance Goyang Caesar!!!

Why Are You So Serious?

Why are you so serious? I believe you reader know about this quote words. Yes, this is the words from Joker, the greatest immortal enemy of Batman. He is very unique person. He never give up for attack Batman. In further, he doesn’t do all of that criminal action for any purpose but just for his satisfaction only. And many other unique and interesting characteristics of Joker. I think that not all of those character is bad. There are some good point from Joker’s which we can learning from him. As I know, below is the positive value from the Joker,



Always Smile
This characteristics is the trademark of Joker. Neither in the bad nor condition, Joker always smile. Other than becoming mysterious, this face make some scene become more interesting in the films especially when he has battle against Batman.

This character is very different with the enemies in the other superhero films. In other film, the enemy has angry face, bad face or hidden face.

Actually in my religion, the Muslim is encouraged to give smile to everyone. That because by give our happy face to the other means that we also make our surrounding feel happy too. So lets smile beginning from now!

Always Happy
Joker always feel happy. Although he is caught by Batman, he always happy. He is never sad with his condition.
I think this character is not different with character of always positive thinking and always grateful in our lives. This character is good for always enjoy our lives without bad thinking with other and ourselves condition.
However, please remember to make happy face in the match condition. Don’t feel happy when your friends got bad condition. It will make you become heartless people in your surrounding views.

Just For His Sake
Joker always do the criminal activity based on his believe and just for his sake. Not for others people. He do what in his idealism.

This personality can be copied to our live. We have to do all activity based on our believe and idealism. Then, we also have to do anything for our sake, not for others. Meanwhile, when we do something, we have to keep up the rules. We have to regard the right of other people.

Never Give Up
This is the great point of Joker. See the film of Batman and see the struggle of Joker against Batman. He never give up with his mission. Even his effort is fail, he never stop and make a new strategy for next plan. He never feel hopeless in his live whatever the condition happened. This will be never ending story of Joker.

We have to do same with our live as what he did. We have to do with our live purpose whatever the problem against it.

Full of Strategy
Joker is the best enemy who has great strategy and effort against Batman. He make plans in details for get his purpose. He do that with full calculation and analysis.

As we know, to do something, we have to make good plan first before we take an action. This is the first step of our struggle to make success of our target.

Cooperation With Other Party
Although with the violence, Joker always can do cooperation with other party. He know that he always need other hand to support his strategy.

This is similar with what we have to do with our live. We need others to get our target so we need to cooperate with others party.

Finally, all of those characters is positive side of Joker. We can ignore the negatives of him, and extract the positives. Lets be real Joker (Joker with Positive Personality)!!!

Indonesia Independence Day, What is it mean?

17 Agustus 1945, the Indonesia Independence Day. The date when the two proclamators , Soekarno and Hatta, declared the freedom of Indonesian from colonialism and expansion from other country. IN that date, all Indonesian people celebrate that declaration as peak point of Indonesian battle against colonialism since long time ago. Although, after that day the colonialism and expansion from Netherland but since that time Indonesian believe with the unity of nation in this country.



Since that big day, every year, all of Indonesian people celebrate this country independence. There are several activity for celebration such flag ceremony, competition, concert, sport event, carnival, etc. For government and public company employee, they have to conduct the flag ceremony. This is national event which is broadcasted nationally over national TV channel. This ceremony is different with the other ceremony because in this event, the ceremony is held to remember the term of proclamation.

In the independence day, there are also many special competitions for this event such as “lomba makan krupuk”, “lomba balap karung”,” lomba memasukkan paku”, “lomba panjat pinang”, etc. All of this competition became the illustration of struggle of our founding fathers in the battle against Netherland and Japan. In the other place, the independence day is celebrated with the music concert. This concert is spending much money by invite several big popular local band.

All of those celebrations are not wrong but we have to know that there are many better way to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day. How? We can spent the time in this term with good activity depend on our own competencies. Make the best advantage for our country with our activity. If you are an illustrator then make the best illustrator to improve the level of design in our country. If you are a researcher then conduct the best research and development which has big advantage to our country and contribute to science and technology in world level. If you are a student then make the good activity which can support your ability whether soft and hard skill by learning and training.

The important thing for our government related with this event that they have to make the best effort to make this country better. There are many poverty in several place, so please improve the place which left behind. There are several point in morality of executive staff, please make better the quality of our vice. There many bad news in laws, so please make better the quality the laws of this country. And many others homework which have to be solved by the government. That's point for the government.

So let’s make our best effort to make our best value to our country, Indonesia.

'Tes CPNS' the solution or new problem for Indonesia?

What is CPNS Test?
This year, the test for government employee or Tes CPNS will be conducted. In two years ago, the CPNS test was prohibited because of the huge number of PNS in this country. Until now, PNS is the most interesting place for most people in Indonesia. Almost all of the Indonesian people even they have a job already still want to be a government employee.



Why Popular?
Why this event became popular in our country? I believe you (reader) especially from Indonesia know the answer exactly. Became a PNS will ease our live because we don’t need to work hard to get salary. This is very different when we work in the profit oriented company whether private or public company. Because of that by becoming PNS, we can enjoy our live fully. Other than that, some people like the prospect of PNS when they pension. They can get the pension salary until they die (That so funny…)

However there are many places which need the commitment, hard work and discipline such as medical, education and researcher staff. That place is out of the scope of this article. The view of this article is the place where actually it is not needed primarily for our government operational.

As my view, below are the points which can be described about this event,

It Is needed?
It is OK if the place offered in the CPNS test is very important and needed by the office. But as we can see, there are many PNS in several places who is very enjoy with their job. This indicates that there are too many people so the load of work is separated with them. Each people just hold little work. Because of that, many people enjoy PNS.
In my opinion, actually the existed staff in the office can be maximized based on their competencies. If they need the training or other, the employer can support it. It is an effective way for improving the performance of office without the addition the staff.

Bribery in Behind of Test?
I believe that you know about rumor that the test taker can graduate easily by give some money to the committee of test. I have heard the money can be 75 billion, 100 billion etc. I think it is a bad news for our bureaucracy.
Based on that rumor, I just think easily the cause why the government offices always need new people in each year is because the position of PNS can be a good profitable business. I hope that is not true but based on the logic, that two conditions have the correlation.

Too Many PNS, Too Much Salary To Be Paid
The salary of PNS is paid by government. So that if there are many PNS in this country then there is much money which has to be paid by government. In the last, this will disturb the finance condition of Indonesia.
We can imagine it the government employee can be minimized based on the priority need then the government of money can be used for other need such for poverty, medical, education etc. In the last, Indonesia can grow with that money.

Why PNS, not Entrepreneur?
Actually, the strong country has big number of entrepreneur, not government employee. If all of Indonesian people became PNS, the economic activity in this country will not run and Indonesia will be the third country forever (how sad…). Government has to encourage the new entrepreneur in this country so that they can grow significantly to support the economic development.

I think that’s all. That is based on my opinion so no offense.

Now here is the philosophical meaning of each paragraph,

1. Paragraph 1

Lir-ilir, Lir-ilir (Wake up!!!, wake up)

Tandure wus sumilir (the plant has blossomed)

Tak ijo royo-royo (there are so green)

Tak sengguh temanten anyar (like a new couple)

As Moslem, we are asked to wake. Waking from deterioration, waking from the laziness for building the believe to the God. This is symbolized as green plants. However it is up to us whether still became lazy or not and leave the same condition.

1. Paragraph 2

Cah angon, cah angon (shepherd!, shepherd!)

Penekno Blimbing kuwi (climb that starfruit tree)

Lunyu-lunyu penekno (although it is slippery, still go to climb)

Kanggo mbasuh dodotiro (for washing your clothes)

Why this lyrics use shepherd? Not president, not director or others? That because shepherd/cah angon is teach, give guidance to his followers to the truth way. Then, why do star fruit?  Starfruit has 5 sides. The number of 5 show of 5 rule of Islam believes which have to do by all of Moslem. Otherwise the color of star fruit is green that shows the color of Islam.

Then why do climbing? This message is invitation for Java king and government to follow the Islam rules. Although this is difficult, they still have to struggle to do that.

Why they have to do that? This for washing their soul with Islam light.

3. Paragraph 3

Dodotiro, dodotiro (your clothes, your clothes)

Kumitir bedah ing pinggir (ripped in its side)

Dondomono, Jlumatono (sew it, repair it)

Kanggo sebo mengko sore (for facing to this afternoon)

Our believes must be ripped in everywhere. Because of that we are asked to sew and repair it for facing our future meet our God, Allah SWT.

4. Paragraph 4

Mumpung padhang rembulane (the moon is still lightening)

Mumpung jembar kalangane (we have leisure time)

Yo surako surak iyo!!! (and shout “Yes”)

We are asked to do all of those guides (paragraph 1-3) when we still has fit body and has many leisure time and is someone give the advices plese say “Yes”.
